After a few days on the road it was time to check Big Karl in to a motorhome stop and refresh the supplies. Prague provided the perfect destination to get a few small cleaning jobs done and set up camp for two nights. The weather was starting to get a tad chilly (especially in the mornings) however the fog did’t deter us from heading into Prague to explore the sights. I had been looking forward to Prague for weeks and we were finally there!

The cobblestone lanes mixed with the trams did not lend itself well to staying safe on a bicycle however lucky for us, everything was in walking distance. Rugged up warm, we even did a bit of shopping to assist, we spent the day taking in the atmosphere. Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, St Vitius Cathedral, the Astronomical Clock and Old Town Square…the list goes on. Our self-guided walking tour seemed to capture the essence of the Czech’s capital vibe, including a delicious lunch at Lokal with some of the best beer we have tasted. We later went and hunted out a market and stocked up.

We had a short drive the following day, back into Germany but this time Berlin! We weren’t too sure what to expect from the capital and we decided to do something a bit different for us and take a New Europe Free Walking Tour. Well, our guide was a history major and we came away clued up on all of Berlin’s history; from the Brandenberg Gate to the Third Reich followed by the Cold War and the falling of the Berlin Wall we heard it all. It is little wonder why Berlin is such a mixing pot of cultures once you understand how Berlin came to exist.

In keeping with the diverse atmosphere of the city, we headed to Moon for some Vietnamese cuisine (the city is crawling with these types of restaurants)…we were wowed! It was some of the best we have ever had, and a good price too! While we had a bit more of a relaxed time in Berlin as opposed to go-go-go like usual, we took the time to enjoy the cafe and brunch culture and explore the city in a new way. We had a ball and left feeling refreshed, ready for the next country and another ferry ride; this time to Sweden!

We weren’t planning on making the trip to Sweden or Denmark but we managed to make up some time, Scandinavia here we come!
C xx
